About us

The School of Medical, Indigenous and Health Sciences brings together academics from a diverse range of disciplinary backgrounds to provide excellent educational experiences for students, and to address important challenges facing the health of individuals, communities and populations. Our discipline groups of Indigenous Health, Medical Science, Exercise and Rehabilitation Sciences, and Nutrition and Dietetics work together to produce health professionals who can work effectively in interdisciplinary health care teams and scientists who are ready to address key questions in health and disease.

As well as our strong base at the University of Wollongong campus, we have teaching locations in Shoalhaven and at health care facilities across New South Wales. We work to connect with communities and understand their health care needs and our distributed geography provides students with rich learning experiences.

The School of Medical, Indigenous and Health Sciences is committed to producing academically and clinically strong graduates and excellent research.

These partnerships emphasise mutual benefit, social inclusion and community development.

Engagement and public participation is encouraged through four streams, including community-engaged learninghealth advocacycommunity-engaged research, and direct philanthropy. A unifying objective is the creation of healthier communities through increased health equity by working and learning with the communities we serve.

The School of Medical, Indigenous and Health Sciences offers a variety of subjects that focus on supporting healthy lifestyles and improving the health of individuals, communities, and populations. The School consists of four disciplines, Medical Science, Indigenous Health, Nutrition & Dietetics and Exercise, Sports Science and Rehabilitation.
