About Us

At first glance, the finely manicured lawns and duck ponds at the University of Wollongong might seem an unlikely backdrop for a national and international hub of medical and health activity. Our location in Wollongong, Shoalhaven and eight regional and remote hubs across New South Wales positively challenges many preconceptions about medical and health education. This past year has seen many new beginnings as we enter a whole of University restructure phase, but in essence the four disciplines including Graduate Medicine, Indigenous Health, Medical & Exercise Science and Nutrition & Dietetics functions remain, directed by their imperative to produce high calibre graduates who are research competent. The School of Medicine is firmly committed on its destiny to produce academically and clinically strong graduates. My personal thanks go to the many Staff and Honorary Clinical Academics who make the School of Medicine an inspirational place, a great place to grow professionally and learn. My equal thanks go to our communities whose support continues to be the source of motivation and wonderment to us all. Generation of new research knowledge and translation of existing knowledge into practice is core to our being.
