SMAH Academic Presents a Key Note Address at an International Conference of Psychiatry and Psychosocial Rehabilitation. 

The 3rd Nitte International Conference And Workshop Of Psychiatry and Psychosocial Rehabilitation – “Beyond Symptom Control “was held on 27-29 November 2015 Nitte, Karnataka, India

The conference was jointly Organised by Nitte University, Institute Of Australian Psychiatrists, Nitte Rural Psychiatric, Centre Asian Federation Of Psychiatric Associations. The conference had the  participation and presentations from 9 countries where PSR had been pioneered by volunteers from outside the country but with the strong support of individuals in the countries concerned. The conference the third in the series focussed on PSR in a big way sharing experiences in countries as diverse as Myanmar to Cook Island and underlined the need for innovation to make PSR successful in low to medium income countries. The problems and challenges were discussed in workshop sessions and solutions suggested. Recent advances in Schizophrenia and its management as well as psychopharmacological and rehabilitative methods of treatment were discussed. A postgraduate course for residents of Kshema Medical College in Nitte University was held during the conference.  The problems and challenges were discussed in workshop sessions and solutions suggested. Psychosocial rehabilitation experts such as Professor Parameshvara Deva from Malaysia who has started Psychosocial Rehabilitation Programmes in Cambodia, Cooks Island Fiji and Mongolia and Professor Nagesh Pai from the University of Wollongong, Australia, shared their experiences during their key note addresses.
